New Year’s is a Great Time to Get Coaching Clients
Many companies struggle in January, but it’s a great time for coaching. People are predisposed to make life changes around this time of year. Go out and get speaking opportunities where you can talk about the process of change. Make a workshop on the theme of change.
Overview of the workshop
You can develop a workshop that inspires people to define the changes they would like to make, gives them a plan to make those changes, and holds them accountable for the changes. Tailor the workshop to the group you are talking to. For example, if I was talking to sellers, I would talk about the changes needed to sell more in a depressed market.
Three areas of change
Ask participants to list three things they need to change to get the best results they want. Use the wisdom of the group to suggest all possible changes and write the possibilities on a flipchart for everyone to see. Help participants list all of the possible positive outcomes that these changes will bring to them or their business. This helps people become part of your workshop and helps them see how your coaching can have a positive effect on their lives.
Change Strategies
Ask each participant to write down three areas they will change and two or three ways (strategies) they will use to make those changes happen. This is an easy way to develop an actionable three-step change plan.
Encourage accountability
Encourage them to take action and see results immediately by choosing one action for each area of change they can take over the next two weeks. Then ask them to exchange contact information with the person next to them so they can contact each other for a follow-up in two weeks.
Ask for introductory coaching sessions
You will excite and inspire your audience to start the process of change, you are considered an expert and you have a great opportunity to promote your coaching business and deliver introductory coaching sessions like crazy. Be sure to offer introductory coaching sessions at the end of your presentation and collect contact information from audience members.
